Easy baby cardigan

These Deramores buttons are coming in handy! I’ve managed to finish off another cardigan which was hanging out in the bottom of my knitting bag. This was one of my girl baby knits. Obviously, it’s not really a colour for Hugo – it will be gifted to one of the many babies my friends have on the way.

IMG_1407This cardigan really lived up to its name – Easy Baby Cardigan. It’s from a book called More Last Minute Knitted Gifts by Joelle Hoverson. It was really straightforward.

I knitted this one in Wisdom Yarns Poem Silk (a 10 ply wool and silk mix), colourway 802. I had a terrible time matching the colour variations when I rejoined the yarn to knit the second side of the front – next time I won’t use a self-shading yarn! Next time I’ll also count my rows as well as measuring – some of my edgings were a bit off.

IMG_1402I really like the seed stitch detail on the sleeves and hem.

IMG_1404After reading through project comments on Ravelry I decided to knit button holes into the cardigan – next time I think I’d space them a little more and only do four. I think the buttons work really well. I’m obviously big on large wooden button at the moment. I think they look great with chunky yarn.

I love this. And I love the movement of the color through the piece – it looks like a series of paint strokes – really, it’s lovely. And the buttons are perfect!!
