I have something to share with you today! This outfit is my favourite KCW project so far – a pair of leggings and a top.
I’m pretty proud of these leggings – which I admit is a little ridiculous – but I’ve never sewn clothes with knits before. Some of you might remember my previous attempt at stretch fabric. Just slightly traumatic. Anyway, these leggings were far, far less stressful and much more successful. I used the Go To Leggings pattern, size 2T in capri length for the warmer weather – they are pretty long on Elena though, so I might shorten them further next time around. The pattern goes from 12 months to 12 years, has four lengths and a stack of variations.
I learned a new skill with this little Geranium top, too. I had never made or sewn with piping before, but I wanted to add a pop of yellow to tie the bright buttons into the garment. It took forever to get it sewn in neatly, but I’m very happy with the end result.
I’ve been seeing pretty Geraniums all over blog-land for months now. I can see why – they are a very quick sew (even quicker when you don’t try to be clever with piping…) and look pretty sweet. The top is also a size 2T, and it fits well.
Elena’s completely sick of standing still for photos (and who can blame her, really?), so this collection of photos is an unintentional tour of our back yard.
Elena is adorable! And so is the dress…makes me wish I had a granddaughter to sew for.
Thank you!
Gorgeous clothes made by gorgeous mum on a gorgeous girl!
You’re too kind 🙂
You are SEW talented 🙂
Haha, such a bad pun. I’ve been thinking about how to put together a response that unpicks your joke – but I’m not able to stitch one together 🙂 x
Oh dear, we’re getting old. I’m just going to overlock, I mean overlook your terrible jokes. 🙂
That little girl of yours just gets cuter and cuter!
She is pretty adorable at the moment, I will agree. The tantrums, not so much 🙂 Terrible twos and all that!
Ruth, the dress looks fantastic! I love piping, it adds such a lovely touch 🙂 What a great first attempts 🙂 Leggings look great, too. Nothing beats a nice comfy pair of leggings 🙂
Thanks, Jenya. There will definitely be more leggings in our future – I was shocked at how quickly they came together!
So pretty! It would be great to be able to make leggings for my little girl rather than buy them – they are such an incredibly useful item of clothing! Elena looks so sweet in the photos! I love the yellow piping on her little dress too 🙂
Gorgeous – I think I need to come round and see just how big your stash of fabric is.
Then I’d have to admit I have a fabric problem…
